Facebook opens up more code

It looks like Facebook has open sourced the real-time Web server from it’s Friendfeed acquisition. The framework is called Tornado.
Facebook wastes no time putting FriendFeed to work

There’s a obvious misstep in the article in the form of this quote:
“Open-sourcing the technology doesn’t have an obvious financial end for Facebook.”
That’s silly. Facebook is going to gain hundreds of new developer eyeballs looking at the code offering suggestions, improvements, and modifications. The ‘obvious financial end’ is to allow Tornado to become a better product with the help of the developer community.
