Here’s a start-up using Facebook as a dating platform.

The angle is you use Facebook Connect to find potential dates, and then ask your friends for an introduction. Seems like a good idea. I like the angle.

It’s be interesting to see what happens. Network effects are going to make or break this service. The more friends are using the service, the more people you’ll reach. With the stigma of online dating almost gone, this may come across as just ‘one more dating service.’

Also, Facebook recently removed the ability to search on relationship status. If the information is still available through Facebook Connect, which is used by Thread.com, then the service may see greater demand. If the information isn’t searchable at all, then the startup is dead in the water.
