TC50: Glide Health Lets Docs And Patients Access Health Records Across Mobile And Desktop Platforms

Taking on Google is ambitious. The value here lies in the network effects. If my records are electronic, it won’t help me if I have to go to a specialists and she hasn’t subscribed to the service. It also seems like the syncing is an infrastructure issue, which I suspect Google will win. GOOG has spent significant effort into designing algorithms and writing applications that do nothing but sync data amongst its servers. Taking on GOOG from this angle seems fruitless.

The idea of charging the medical community seems obvious, but the costs aren’t only in the subscription. There are equipment upgrades, training costs, re-tooling of the patient management process, and significant time explaining the concepts to their patients. And many doctors have been through this process already with lackluster results.
